Nia Felton

President

As president, I look forward to a memorable year for all of us. This year we will be participating in various service projects, one of which being Serving Our Students (S.O.S.), a continuation of Serving Our Seniors, a music and arts program where we competed at National Beta Convention, winning first place.

I am also looking forward to our work with the Autism Society. This will be a partnership that I am sure both the members of Senior Beta and the students of the Autism Society will both find rewarding.

In addition to my service to Senior Beta, I enjoy participating in Chi Alpha, a missions-focused performance choir of high school students that ministers in song and dance at prisons, detention centers, community centers, and churches. The highlight of my missions experience was my trip to Gallop, New Mexico. I also enjoy serving as an interpreter at the Virginia Living Museum, competing in robotics competitions and envirothon evens,  serving on the Newport News Library Board of Trustees, volunteering at my church, and playing violin for Senior Regional Orchestra and Peninsula Homeschool Musicians Orchestra .

Josiah Walker

Vice President

As this year's Vice President, I am looking forward to assisting the President and adapting our meetings and service projects to function during the pandemic. Because we cannot meet in person, I would like to promote club unity through monthly online social meetups. I am excited to use our service projects to enrich our community during this hard time.

During convention this year, I am looking forward to competing in academic and team competitions. Last year I was awarded second place in the Virginia State Senior Beta Convention Science Competition, and I aspire to win this year compete at Senior Beta Nationals.

Aside from Beta, I am the team captain of FIRST Robotics Competition team 122, the NASA Knights. I enjoy volunteering at FIRST Lego League, FIRST Tech Challenge competitions and other STEM events, so I can pass on my knowledge and excitement for STEM to others.

Levi Walker

Treasurer

My name is Levi Walker and I am very excited to start this school year! I am really looking forward to meeting you! As an officer in this club, I pledge to you my support and I hope this year is a remarkable experience for all involved. I have been entrusted with the position of treasurer for several years and I hope to make social events, academic opportunities, and conventions more affordable for all.

In addition to serving in Senior Beta, I enjoy volunteering in various ways, including watching children, teaching robotics classes, and helping with robotics competitions. My favorite hobby is participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), an international robotics competition in which teams of high school students design, build, wire, and code a robot with limited resources to play a game. My favorite part of FRC is participating in a project-based environment while learning real-life skills in STEM and working with other people. I also enjoy reading books and playing in my youth group’s worship band.
